Now I'm looking forward to some fun machine quilting, to add a bit more definition to the flowers and leaves!
I made some changes in the colour placements as I went along. I spent much of this morning carefully removing 4 hexagons and replacing them with slightly different colours of fabric, mostly in the "table" area, due to a lack of choice in my stash.
The pattern is found at The Inbox Jaunt. It was challenging, but fun to make! Thanks Lori and Peggy - your great photography and interesting interpretation are much appreciated!
I love it! The abstract flowers are what attracted me, I think. Very lush. Looking forward to the finish.

So glad you liked the design and tackled it in prints. Lori's photo at TheInboxJaunt.com seemed to shout hexagons, so I thought I'd see how to make the hexagons an integral part of the design without using 1000s of them to define the shapes... thus the paper pieced maxi-hexies
ReplyDeleteI just finished my own paper pieced skyline of Ottawa but will have to think a while about how to quilt these intricate shapes once it's sewn into the bed-sized quilt top.
Thank you again, Susan, for posting your progress. Can't wait see the borders and quilting and embellishments on the hexagons.
