DESIGN WALL MONDAY

A year or so ago, I saw someone working on this lovely Christmas project.  The pattern is "A Long Time Ago in Bethelehem" and was in the July 2012 issue of Australian Homespun magazine.  After hunting everywhere for a copy, I discovered it was available as an e-magazine download, so I was able to find the original pattern, and the link to the rest of the blocks.  Pardon the wrinkles and folds, as I haven't pressed any of these since they were completed.

Block 5 is called the Reluctant Donkey.  I love the humour in each of the blocks!
Block 2 is called "Kitchen Sink Camel".  This reminded me of a picture that my Father-in-law took of DH's Grandmother packing after a month visit.  There was so much stuff that he added the old kitchen sink to the pile!  I wish I had a copy of the picture....
Last night I noticed that my bin of leaders and enders was getting full, so I sat, while listening to the end of an audio book, and stitched the "2-patches" into 3's then into 9-patches.

Head over to Judy's blog, Patchwork Times, to see what others are working on this week!

  4. If anyone wants to purchase a digital copy of the magazine, it's issue Vol 14 No 12, July 2012 and is available from http://au.zinio.com/www/browse/issue.jsp?skuId=416269658&rf=sch&sch=true

The single issue is only A$3.50 (= about US$3.30).

The first block (the first one at the top of this blog post) is published in the magazine, and the remaining 11 blocks and instructions to combine them in a quilted wallhanging are available free from the Australian Homespun website. Go to http://www.homespun.net.au/stitch/ and scroll down.

  5. Susan - can you provide the link to purchase the e-copy of the magazine that has the A Long Time Ago In Bethlehem pattern. I was able to find blocks 2-12 for download but still need Block 1 from the magazine.

  6. The magazine with the first pattern in it is Vol 13, number 7, it's the Christmas in July issue from 2012. I bought the vol 14 # 12 magazine from the comment above and it does not have the pattern.

  7. To Megan: I purchased the correct July 2012 magazine from the link you provided BUT THERE ARE NO PATTERNS in the digital magazine. How can I obtain the necessary Hello block for this project?

To Susan: I apologize for hijacking your blog post but I don't know how else to contact Megan.
